Insulation Materials

Industrial insulation is used in refineries, power generation plants, and manufacturing facilities, among other industrial operations. Like all insulations, industrial insulation is used to control temperature.

Insulation reduces unwanted heat loss or gain and can decrease the energy demands of heating and cooling systems. It does not necessarily deal with issues of adequate ventilation and may or may not affect the level of sound insulation. The main modes of heat transfer - conduction, radiation and convection can be reduced through appropriate construction techniques and choice of materials.

In addition to being resistant to thermal stress and other physical phenomena induced by heat, refractories are usually required to withstand physical wear and corrosion by chemical agents. Refractory products are generally two types - brick or fired shapes and specialties or monolithic refractories.

Fire Proofing

Fireproofing is the application of a spray-applied or troweled material. This can be done to a rated floor, roof and column assembly to protect the structural steel of the object for a given period of time.

At Temperatures of 800-1000 degrees F., steel can bend and buckle under load, with possible collapse ensuing. Fire resistant materials cling to the steel preserving its strength. These materials prevent heat damage to the steel providing valuable evacuation time for personnel and protecting property. The individual steel members hold so that objects retain structural integrity.

Removable insulation covers can be constructed for any temperature or chemical environment.

They can usually be installed while your plant is on line to avoid shut down time. Applications include: Flanges, Valves, Heat exchanges, Pumps, Steam or Gas turbines and more.
